The greater good is always the good of someone

The Danish free market research institute CEPOS just published an interesting poll on whether public sector employees should have the salary hike they demand even if it caused increased tax (in Danish).

If you look at the straight answers 47% said no and 44% yes with 9% undecided it seems split. Now the real interesting thing in the study is when you look at the employment status of the people saying yes. A whopping 70% of public sector employees want the pay rise as opposed to 34% of private sector employees.

This would seem to prove that people are not just voting for the greater good of society but more for the good of themselves. Now there is nothing wrong with this in the 24 hour real time democracy that is the market, however in a representative democracy such as Denmark it is just even more evidence of a kleptocracy.
