The trouble with libertarians

I subscribe to probably far too many libertarian blogs. We spend a lot of time talking about those statist fools, then get into arguing over which Austrian economists solution is best to solve some very serious economic issue that no one but ourselves care about.

The thing is that they way we do things we are pretty much similar to that other group of frustrated intellectuals on the extreme left.

What I think we need to and too few of us do is more doing and less talking. You can preach to the choir all day long, but if people just shake their head and hurry along when they see us on the street, are we really any better than this fine gentleman below?

I’m not really saying that we should shut up, but really I’m saying we should try and do stuff as well. Libertarians are all about letting the markets do it. We are not about trying to manipulate some vote or embed ourselves into a fundamentally corrupt system.

I have heard so many libertarians and anarcho-capitalists come up with solutions for what we need when their is no state. Well what are we waiting for, lets get in there and start these alternative institutions up.

After that I also have to say that there are definitely Libertarians who do try and change the world. E-Gold and PayPal are both examples of libertarian founded companies, with the specific purpose of replacing and competing with government institutions.
