Great Interview with Anders Fogh Rasmussen
February 17, 2006While I like most Danish Libertarians have grown more and more annoyed with “Anders Fogh Rasmussen” since he became prime minister, he seems to have handled him self fairly good with this whole Mohamed affair. He is also suddenly becoming a household name outside of Denmark.
I discovered a Spiegel Interview with him via Johan Norberg which is actually impressively good and at times funny.
My (as well as Johan who is a Swede) favorite bit was this about comments from the Swedish prime minister:
SPIEGEL: Then why did your Swedish colleague Goran Persson criticize you and say he would have never underestimated such a situation?
Fogh Rasmussen: First, he is not in my situation. Second, I would never get involved in any domestic issue in Sweden. And third, I am especially honored to be attacked by the Swedish Social Democrats — it is a sign that our policies are the correct ones.
The Swedes are blindly facing huge problems with a huge mass of unemployed immigrants. Their immigration policy is not necessarily the problem but their policy of handling the immigrants most definitely is. The worst thing is that no one talks about it in Sweden.
Denmark went to the other extreme. They are trying so hard to do something about it that they are doing many wrong things. However there is a very open and fierce debate about it in Denmark, which is much better than Sweden. The worst thing is that the Danish Peoples Party which is basically a Xenophobic version of the Social Democratic Party has got leverage over Anders in the parliament.
