Gangland killing Danish style
May 29, 2005Yesterday was beautiful and we went out around eightish for our normal walk around the lakes, when we saw and heard a large crowd shouting.
It turns out there had been another in a serious of gangland killings right around the corner from us at one of our favorite nightspots.
There are now two gangs as far as I understand one here from the Nørrebro area where we live and one from the suburb of Køge. They have been fighting it out since the police closed the drug market i Christiania last year. Then the market for drugs opened up as the grand old family friendly drug monopoly closed. About a month ago there was a shoot out at Christiania, where one guy was killed and 4 wounded. This is supposedly the revenge attack for that.
Nørrebros Turkish and Arab community was out in force on the street last night. Many of them crying others with faces of serious anger. The guy killed owned a socalled hash club of which we have many in the neighborhood. But in a small area like this I’m sure everyone has grown up with each other so it’s quite painful.
On the photo above you might be able to see three guys arrested. These weren’t the killers as we first thought, but friends of the guy killed. When police announced that he was dead, they had to call in reinforcements, because people went beserk.
Danish politicians like to talk about this kind of thing as American style situations, but really they created the environment where this kind of thing happens. They created the artificial ghettos that are flourishing in Denmark and took all the reason for living away from these folks by turning them into chronic victims who should be helped at all cost by the state. Which if you think about it is exactly how the Democrats created the Puerto Rican and “Negro” ghettos in the New York in the fifties and sixties.
