The big news today in Panama is the attack this weekend of two indigenous villages in the Darien rainforest by Colombian para millitaries.
On Saturday Ernesto Ayala, head chief; San Pascual Ayala, second chief y Luis Enrique Martínez regional comisioner were killed in the village of Paya.
Later Gilberto Vásquez head chief was found near the village of Púcuro.
Earlier the group of para militaries had captured American Robert Pelton, Canadian Marc Wedever and American Megan Smaker .
Robert Pelton is famous for his Worlds most Dangerous Places series and books.
The Darien region is one of the most important rain forests in the Americas but has been plagued in recent years by attacks of Colombian guerillas. FARC the largest Comunist Guerilla group are known to have at least one illegal camp in Darien. AUC the paramilitary group most probably behind the above is fighting a war against FARC in Colombia.
