Panamá, Costa Rica and El Salvador to open securities markets
December 17, 2002Panamá negociará apertura de valores con Costa Rica
While the Panamanian government is still negotiating free trade agreements around the world, the Comisión Nacional de Valores (CNV) the Panamanian Securities Exchange Commision has been busy working with El Salvador and Costa Rica.
According to La Prensa the president of CNV has indicated that they have an agreement in principle to open up their securites markets with El Salvador.
I think this is a great idea. El Salvador have with success recently dollarized, have a modern securities legislation like Panama. So there is an obvious benefit here.
Costa Rica may be a bit more dificult, judging by their current economic difficulties.
What this means as far as I can understand is that securities from each country will be able to be listed on each others exchanges with minimal red tape and that aint a bad thing.
